Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck surgery is a reconstructive surgery to correct abnormalities of the abdominal wall. It is known as tummy tuck surgery.

The reasons for the fat regain in the belly are due to hormonal changes (menstruation, pregnancy, menopause or andropause), digestion problems, bad nutrition lack of sporting activity, ageing… Losing the fat accumulated in the stomach area is rather difficult. Abdominoplasty surgery helps to remove the fat mass at this area and to eliminate the excess of skin in the abdominal area in order to find a flat and harmonious stomach.

For some women after pregnancy, the sagging of their belly becomes an inevitable thing due to the accumulation of fat in the abdomen area, sagging skin and stretch marks.

An abdominoplasty allows a considerable improvement of the silhouette thanks to a smooth and flat belly, without irregularities, bulges or stretch marks.

How is an abdominoplasty performed?

After a thorough consultation, examination and several pre-operative tests, the specialist surgeon determines whether the patient is suitable for abdominoplasty. On the day of the surgery, a few hours beforehand, the plastic surgeon traces with a special pen the area of the abdomen where the tummy tuck will be performed. If the patient has already had a caesarean delivery, the incision will be made in this area to avoid any scarring from the sutures which will become invisible after healing. If another operation is planned, for example liposuction, this can be performed during the same operation.
